THE trial of two men accused of killing a Newry postal worker collapsed yesterday when defence lawyers said they could no longer represent the defendants. The trial, before the North's Lord Chief Justice Sir Brian Hutton at Belfast Court, was in its third day.
A defence barrister, for the four lawyers said: "A matter has arisen which makes our professional position in representing the defendants impossible." On trial were Mr Declan McComish (28) and Mr Kevin Patrick Donegan (39), both from Jonesborough in south Armagh. Both men deny murdering Frank Kerr (54), who was shot in the neck as he tried to prevent a £131,000 robbery at Newry sorting office on November 10th, 1994.
