While some in the Arab world have claimed that the sex scandal engulfing President Clinton is a "Zionist plot", hatched to bring down the President before he could pressure Israel into handing over West Bank land to the Palestinians, Monica Lewinsky herself, it turns out, actually supports Mr Clinton's stance on Middle East issues, writes David Horovitz in Jerusalem.
Her lawyer, Mr William Ginsburg, who, like Ms Lewinsky, is Jewish, this week returned a call to the New York correspondent of an Israeli newspaper and maintained that his client was not out to ruin Mr Clinton - either because of his policies on Israel or for any other reason.
Yediot Ahronot yesterday quoted Mr Ginsburg as saying Ms Lewinsky "has no desire . . . to cause his downfall. Quite the contrary . . . we are both Clinton supporters, and admire his positions and his policies on Israel. Clinton is very positive toward Israel and the Jews."
