Scot Paul Lawrie moved two strokes clear of the field with early birdies today as third round play resumed at two of the three venues hosting the weather-affected Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The 1999 British Open champion birdied 14 and 15 on the Old Course at St. Andrews to move to 15-under-par for the tournament.
Ireland's Paul McGinley, Lawrie's co-leader overnight, was however unable to continue his round at Carnoustie this morning as fog delayed the restart at the Scottish links course for a third day in a row.
McGinley remains at 13-under after the 11 holes he completed on Saturday and was forced to wait with 51 other players at Carnoustie for the fog to clear.
South African Ernie Els birdied the 10th hole on the Old Course on Sunday to move into third place, at 11-under par, alongside compatriot and U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen, who birdied 12, 13 and 14 on the same course.
The English duo of Brian Davis and David Howell and Australia's Peter O'Malley are next best at 10-under, but they have also been delayed at Carnoustie.
The Stg£3.5million tournament has already been forced to finish on Monday because of the fog and rain which have plagued the first three days.
