London - The long-awaited report of the public inquiry into the police investigation of the murder of the black teenager, Stephen Lawrence, was delivered to the British Home Secretary, Mr Jack Straw, last night, Rachel Donnelly reports

Mr Straw will make a statement to the House of Commons on the content of the report shortly and the report will be published later this month. Sir William Macpherson's report is expected to strongly criticise the metropolitan police's handling of the murder investigation and in particular the conduct of the metropolitan police commissioner, Sir Paul Condon, who personally assured Lawrence's parents that the investigation was being properly conducted.
