THE compensation fund committee of the Law Society yesterday considered the case of a Dublin solicitor, Mr Denis Murnaghan, practising as Denis Murnaghan and Co Upper Mount Street, against whom the society has taken High Court proceedings.

The court was told in November that the Revenue Commissioners got judgments totalling £640,000 against Mr Murnaghan and the society applied to have his certificate to practise revoked because it believed he could not discharge his liabilities.

The director general of the society, Mr Ken Murphy, declined to comment following yesterday's meeting and said the committee's decision would be outlined when the matter again came to court on January 23rd.

The President of the High Court, Mr Justice Costello, said when the matter was in court last December that he hoped agreement between the Law Society and Mr Murnaghan could be reached before the hearing of the action began.
