Labour will hold a parliamentary party meeting next week in preparation for the new Dail term.
With the resumption effectively marking a long run-in to the next general election, the party will be examining its success at the local elections in June and seeking to develop a strategy for converting their local authority strength into Dail seats.
After announcing at the weekend its intention to ally with Fine Gael to offer voters an alternative government come the next election, a party statement today said next week's meeting would prepare "campaign and policy priorities for the new political term".
The party will also discuss its priorities in relation to the public service and public enterprise.
The meeting will take place next Tuesday and Wednedsday in Ferrycarraig Hotel and follows a gathering the party's local authority representatives in Dublin on Saturday.
A similar meeting held by Fianna Fail ended yesterday with the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, declaring the Government's priorities for the next two to three years will be improving public services and policies targeted at the less well-off.
