Ankara - A tenuous ceasefire between two warring Kurdish factions in northern Iraq collapsed yesterday after the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) said it had been forced to respond to attacks by the rival Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and bombing raids carried out by the Turkish air force.
The PUK says the air raids have been carried out across a wide area, while the KDP is attacking on the ground.
Thousands of people have been displaced by the fighting, making it difficult for humanitarian agencies to deliver muchneeded relief supplies.
