KPMG Consulting, the quoted professional services company, said today it would pay $685 million to acquire the German, Swiss and Austrian operations of KPMG Consulting AG (KCA).

Consulting firm KPMG Consulting said today it reached a deal to buy KPMG Consulting for $685 million and said it expects the deal to add to earnings and strengthen its international operations.

KPMG Consulting, which floated in New York last year, demerged from KPMG Consulting Europe some time ago.

KCA comprises the German, Swiss and Austrian consulting units of KPMG DTG.

The company also announced it had entered a definitive agreement to buy independent business consulting units of member firms of Andersen Worldwide Societe Cooperative in Japan, Norway, Finland, Switzerland and Sweden.

On Saturday, KPMG said it had offered to buy up to 23 of Andersen's business consulting units in the United States and overseas for $284 million as the embattled accounting firm tried to raise cash following the Enron scandal.
