Junior Minister for Trade and Enterprise Mr Tom Kitt has launched a new website to open discussion on the upcoming World Trade Organisation (WTO) International Trade Negotiations.
The new website,
www.openmarkets.ie
, is to provide a forum for Irish industrialists and exporters to voice their opinions on the trade issues which are likely to be discussed at the November WTO Ministerial meeting in Qatar.
"The industry consultation process will both inform Irish companies about the possible implications of the WTO negotiations and provide them with the opportunity to influence the outcome of the talks," said Minister Kitt.
"If your company currently exports, or plans to export, goods or services to non-EU markets; if your company’s exports face foreign import tariffs that reduce profitability and market penetration; if discriminatory laws or regulatory or licensing procedures impeded sales or establishment in foreign markets, then this is your opportunity to identify the barriers to your company’s efforts to expand internationally," he said.
The website will also provide information about rules agreed at the WTO and how they affect the operation of companies.
