The king and queen of Malaysia have arrived in Ireland on an official State visit.
His Majesty Mr Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Her Majesty Mrs Raja Permaisuri Agong arrived in Dublin last night.
They will visit President Mary McAleese at Áras an Uachtaráin this morning for a ceremony of welcome and a tree-planting event that will be followed by lunch.
This evening, the royal guests will attend a State dinner hosted by President McAleese at Dublin Castle.
Tomorrow, their agenda includes a civic reception hosted by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Dermot Lacey, and lunch with the Taoiseach and the Government at Iveagh House. A visit to the ancient burial chamber at Newgrange will also take place tomorrow.
On Wednesday, the royal couple will visit Cork, where they will attend a reception hosted by the Lord Mayor, Councillor John Kelleher. The king will be awarded an honorary degree from the National University of Ireland at UCC.
