The Quality hotel complex in Killarney in Co Kerry, which ceased trading at the start of the year is to reopen next month under new management.

Former general manager Patrick Dillion and former financial controller Paul O’Shea

have set-up a new company Leathanta Saoire Ltd to operate the hotel and have agreed a long lease with the owners Hepton Developments.

The hotel will continue to trade as the Quality Resort Killarney and will reopen on April 9th.

The new management team are only planning to use 168 of the new bedrooms in the 300-bed hotel and have also secured a lease on the leisure centre and 64 2-bed units.

A spokeswoman for Leathanta said the hiring process was “starting from scratch” and there was no guarantee that former employees would secure work with the hotel.

The new management team is having on open day on March 23rd at the hotel to recruit staff.

The hotel closed on January 16th with the loss of over 50 jobs, including 30-full-time positions when Carvanna Properties, which had run the former Ryan Hotel for the past five years, was put into liquidation.
