The English couple who were missing in the McGillycuddy reeks mountain range in Kerry were found safe and well late last night.
Members of the Kerry Mountain Rescue team which had carried out a day-long search of the area found them.
The couple, both in their 30s, set out on Saturday morning from Kate Kearney's cottage to walk a route known as The Ridge of the Reeks to Glencar.
The alarm was raised on Saturday night when they failed to arrive at the Climber's Inn where they were staying.
An initial search on Saturday night failed to locate the couple who were known to be experienced climbers.
A major search involving some 30 members of the Kerry Mountain Rescue Group began at first light on Sunday morning.
Weather conditions in the mountain at this stage had deteriorated and were described by the rescue team as extremely poor.
The Marine Rescue Helicopter based at Shannon was on standby all day to assist but visibility was down to just yards.
Concern mounted as the day went on and there was no trace of them.
But they were found a short time before the search was due to be called off for the night in an area known as Banciara Ridge.
They are both understood to be unharmed and arrived on foot with the rescue team in Glencar late last night.
