HIGH Court proceedings by the chief executive of the Festival of Kerry to restrain the festival company from purporting to dismiss him have been adjourned until tomorrow.
Mr Liam T. Twomey, of Moorefield, Racecourse Lawn, Tralee, was granted a temporary injunction last week. It continued until yesterday when lawyers for both parties asked for an adjournment.
Mr Twomey claimed that on Wednesday of last week his solicitor was notified old a disciplinary hearing that same day. Mr Twomey was told later it had been decided to terminate his employment and to convene a general meeting of the company's members to inform them of the position.
Mr Twomey said no specific charges or complaints had been made against him except for a suggestion in a letter from the festival company president indicating a belief that his (Mr Twomey's) actions at a meeting on April 16th last constituted a serious and fundamental breakdown in the relationship between the company and himself.
Yesterday Mr Ercus Stewart SC, for the festival company, asked Mr Justice Budd to have the matter listed for tomorrow.
Mr Donal O'Donnell SC, for Mr Twomey, said they did not think they would "be troubling" the court. However, he asked for permission to abridge the time for the service of a notice to bring another motion on his client's behalf.
