GAA:As Jack O'Connor continues to mull over his position, Kerry county board chairman Jerome Conway has expressed his wish that the manager signs up for another term. O'Connor has been non-committal on his future since Kerry's All-Ireland exit at the hands of Down.

In the immediate aftermath of that defeat earlier this month O’Connor said it wasn’t the time to make a decision but conceded he might not have the appetite for a new term.

And, even as selector Eamonn Fitzmaurice bowed out, Conway hopes O’Connor and Ger O’Keeffe will be back for a sixth year.

”It’s disappointing to lose Eamonn, but hopefully we’ll still have Jack and Gerfor another spell with the team,” said Conway. “The county executive have met with Jack and Ger since the Down game, and we’ve told them that they have our full backing to continue on in the job.

”Jack and Ger have asked for some time to consider their positions, and we’d be expecting them to get back to us with a decision within the next two weeks or so. Obviously Eamonn will have to be replaced, but before anything is done with regard to that, we have to know who will be managing the team for the next few years.”
