Wimbledon manager Stuart Murdoch has confirmed that Republic of Ireland internatonal Kenny Cunningham has been in talks with Sunderland regarding a switch to the Stadium of Light.
Centre-back Cunningham, who made two appearances as a sustitute against Germany and Spain at the World Cup, looks to have caught the eye of Black Cats boss Peter Reid.
Murdoch said: "Kenny has spoken to Sunderland, but other than that I don't know what the situation is.
"I would certainly want to keep Kenny here. He has proved at the World Cup that he's the kind of player any club would want.
"But I understand the financial situation at the club.
"I have not spoken to Kenny myself. As far as I know he is very happy at the club and his performances last season were extremely consistent."
