Manchester City boss Kevin Keegan has made another close-season signing after capturing young Danish defender Mikkel Bischoff from AB Copenhagen.
Denmark Under-20 international Bischoff has signed a four-year deal for a fee of £750,000. He is the third Dane to team up with Keegan's newly promoted side, joining Niclas Jensen and Peter Schmeichel in the City squad.
"Mikkel came very highly recommended to us and once Graham Carr and Arthur Cox had checked with their contacts we had to move swiftly," said director of football Dennis Tueart.
"Other Premiership clubs were interested in the lad, who is essentially a right-sided central defender but who is equally at home with his left foot".
City's representatives are still negotiating to bring Newcastle's French defender Sylvain Distin to Maine Road.
