Martin Keown will discover this week if the Football Association are to charge him with violent conduct following an incident in Arsenal's 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.
The Arsenal centre-back (36) appeared to strike Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy during the Old Trafford contest.
The FA are set to use their Video Advisory Panel as match referee Dermot Gallagher admitted yesterday that he did not see the incident.
Saturday's clash at Old Trafford was Keown's first start after two and a half months out with a hamstring injury.
Tottenham striker Robbie Keane is also sweating on a referee's verdict after his controversial goal celebration in yesterday's 3-1 success against West Brom at White Hart Lane.
The Republic of Ireland forward (22) scored on the half-hour and marked his strike by running straight to West Brom fans where he appeared to taunt them.
The travelling supporters jeered Keane throughout the match because of the two seasons he spent at their rivals Wolves - but Keane's response, cartwheeling and cupping his hands behind his ears, is unlikely to have gone down well with FA top brass.
