Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Dean Kiely has expressed his surprise that Robbie Keane is not a first-team regular for Leeds - or any other club in the Barclaycard Premiership for that matter.

Kiely was on the receiving end of some of Keane's trickery during training in Dublin this week. Then he watched in awe as the 21-year-old scored a stunning goal to help the Republic secure a 3-0 win over fellow World Cup finalists Denmark in last night's Lansdowne Road friendly.

Keane struck the Republic's second goal after 54 minutes when he collected a free-kick from Steve Staunton, spotted the Danish goalkeeper a yard off his line and rifled the ball into the top right corner from 25 yards.

"Robbie's goal was frightening," said Charlton star Kiely.

"It is well documented that he has not had many starts for Leeds this season, which is unbelievable for me when you come and train with him and see what he does with the ball and how he terrorises people.

"When he is bearing down on you he has got a couple of tricks in the bag and he is a fantastic player.

"It is frightening to think he is not a regular somewhere, because without a doubt he should be.

"He is finding himself not playing at club level at the moment, which is a mystery to me, but everyone has got their own situations."
