Teddy Sheringham and Robbie Keane increased the pressure on their former manager Terry Venables with the goals which sent Tottenham back up to seventh place in the Premiership.
Leeds boss Venables signed Sheringham for Spurs first time around a decade ago and also coached him as manager of England.
But there was no room for sentiment as the Tottenham skipper pounced on a loose ball on the right edge of the Leeds box and steered a low curling drive inside the far post after 11 minutes.
Keane was sold by Venables to Spurs for sgt£7million two months ago, and the Republic of Ireland striker showed what Leeds were missing with a sweet strike from the edge of the box four minutes before the half-time break.
Victory for Glenn Hoddle's team ended a run of three successive defeats, all on the road, but extended Leeds' record to just one win in their last nine Premiership matches.
Venables enjoyed some happy times when he was in charge at White Hart Lane, bringing both Paul Gascoigne and Gary Lineker to the club and winning the FA Cup in 1991.
But he might have guessed it was not going to be a happy return when former Spurs favourite Nick Barmby was injured in the warm-up and had to be replaced by Jacob Burns.
Things then went from bad to worse when Sheringham gave Spurs the lead.
Stephen Carr's quick throw found Sheringham and he released Keane in a race with Teddy Lucic.
After a tussle the ball broke loose on the right edge of the box and it was Sheringham who followed up to steer a low curling drive inside Robinson's far post for his fifth goal of the season.
Keane was like a man possessed as he aimed to prove a point against his former club, and how Leeds could have done with him in their team.
The 22-year-old swapped passes with Sheringham after 22 minutes on the right edge of the box and hit a firm drive, but Robinson was well placed at his near post to make the block.
The home fans were willing Keane to get on the scoresheet and he almost obliged after 36 minutes with a low 20-yard drive which flew just wide.
Venables knew Leeds needed a presence up front and after 37 minutes he introduced Mark Viduka in place of Burns, and that appeared to steady the ship.
The next goal was always going to be important and it arrived courtesy of Keane, who got the reward his hard work deserved in the 41st minute.
Gustavo Poyet, on his 50th appearance for Spurs, chipped the ball towards the right edge of the box which Keane hit first time with the outside of his boot, and the ball flew into the far top corner for his fourth goal in 12 games since his move.
The Dubliner came closest to adding to the goals in the second half, but both teams appeared to accept the game was already settled.
