The three-year marriage of film star Kate Winslet and Jim Threapleton ended today in a "quickie divorce" at the High Court in London. Her petition was in a list of 30 cases approved by District Judge Waller in a 90-second hearing at the London divorce courts.
The decree nisi, granted three months after the Titanic star and her 27-year-old husband split up, was granted on the grounds of his unreasonable behaviour.
The couple met on the set of her film, Hideous Kinky, of which he was the assistant director. They have a one-year-old daughter, Mia.
In court documents made public after the hearing, Ms Winslet stated that her former husband's unreasonable behaviour ended in September and that she has had no contact with him since that date.
Since the split, Ms Winslet (26) has been linked with Sam Mendes (35), director of American Beauty. Their first public appearance together was at last week's New York premiere of her latest film Iris. She proclaimed herself "very happy, unbelievably happy" at the post-premiere party. Mr Threapleton has spent the past week visiting his daughter in Austin, Texas, where Ms Winslet is filming The Life of David Gale with Kevin Spacey.
In Iris, Ms Winslet plays the young Iris Murdoch while Dame Judi Dench plays the older philosopher and novelist.
The film is directed by stage veteran Richard Eyre, artistic director for Britain's Royal National Theatre from 1988 to 1997.
Last month Ms Winslet released her first single, What If, taken from the soundtrack of a new animated version of A Christmas Carol.
