The K Club will not stage the Ryder Cup until 2006 after a decision was taken to play the tournament in even years after the postponement of this weekend’s competition at The Belfry. The Co. Kildare venue was to stage the event in 2005.
The 34th Ryder Cup, postponed following last week's terrorist attacks on the United States, is to be played at The Belfry from September 27th to 29th next year, the European Ryder Cup Board said in a statement this afternoon.
The following Ryder Cups will be played in even years, the Board said, with the 2004 event taking place at Oakland Hills Country Club, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
