A juvenile appeared in Dublin Children's Court yesterday charged with the murder of Ben Smyth (14) in Tallaght. He is also charged with unlawfully taking possession or use of a vehicle. He was remanded in custody to St Patrick's Institution until Tuesday.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is further charged with having a screwdriver, a hammer and a Stanley knife on March 10th under the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act. He is also charged with larceny and with failure to turn up in court. He was remanded in custody to September 24th.
