Alessandro Del Piero struck twice in the last 24 minutes to give Juventus a 2-0 win over Newcastle United in their Champions League group E match tonight.
A battling Newcastle were unlucky to concede the free kick given against Nikos Dabizas which Del Piero converted with a superb curling shot over the wall in the 66th minute.
Juventus went further ahead when the Italy striker's shot from the edge of the box took a slight deflection past goalkeeper Shay Given nine minutes from time.
The Italian side lost striker Marco Di Vaio after only 12 minutes following a clash of heads with Dabizas. Di Vaio, who was knocked out, was rushed to hospital where he recovered but was going to be kept under observation overnight.
Juventus moved clear at the top of the group on seven points from three games, two points ahead of Feyenoord, who were held 0-0 at home by Dynamo Kiev. Newcastle have lost all three of their matches.
