The jury will retire today in the case of two Limerick brothers accused of murdering their sister's boyfriend.

The jury will retire today in the case of two Limerick brothers accused of murdering their sister's boyfriend.

Mr John Murray (26) and Mr Gerard Murray (19) of Ballinacurra-Weston have pleaded not guilty to murdering Mr Edward Waters (19) at a house in Clarina Park on December 1st, 1997.

Ms Sharon Murray had been in a relationship with Mr Waters since she was 12 and had had his two children. Ms Murray told the court Mr Waters was violent to her and her children and on the night of the killing her brothers came to her aid.

Mr Waters died from a knife wound in his lung, but two other stab wounds were found on his face and arm. Mr Gerard Murray admitted bringing a knife to the scene of the killing, while Mr John Waters admitted picking one up.
