THE trial of eight men accused of involvement in a £150,000 cigarette warehouse raid was aborted on its second day yesterday because of a problem concerning one of the jurors.
The eight, including two Dubliners, face charges of armed robbery and false imprisonment.
Mr Justice Higgins said in Belfast Crown Court that he had no option but to order a retrial because a member of the panel had "rightly" brought a matter to his notice and as a result "it is quite clear that that juror should not sit in judgment in this case".
He added that a new jury to try the case should not be selected from the current panel. This means selection will be postponed until next month.
