The jury has been discharged in the trial of two Co Meath-based gardaí accused of assaulting a man in his home.
Sgt Michael Jordan and Garda Alan Coates, who are based at Ashbourne Garda station, had pleaded not guilty to assaulting William Shiels at Tara Lawns, Ashbourne, on the night of April 26/27th, 2009.
The direction from Judge Michael O’Shea came yesterday when the court heard that Carl Talbot, a key witness to the alleged incident, had suffered a medical relapse and was unfit to attend court.
