THE High Court had no function to interfere with the Dunnes tribunal of inquiry, a judge stated yesterday.
Mr Justice Geoghegan yesterday refused leave to a Corkman to seek a judicial review of a refusal to let him represent himself at the Dunnes tribunal.
Mr Con O'Connell, of Hillview Estate, Tramore Road, Cork, had sought to challenge a refusal to allow him to represent himself at the tribunal and to cross examine witnesses who had already given evidence.
He claimed the counsel appointed to represent the public interest had done nothing whatsoever to allay the deep public concern which existed. Mr Justice Geoghegan said only the chairman of the tribunal, Mr Justice McCracken, could decide who could appear or not appear there.
