Seoul - South Korea's ruling party yesterday named an uncompromising former judge, Mr Lee Hoi-chang, as its torchbearer in presidential elections in December. Political analysts said Mr Lee would probably succeed President Kim Youngsam if he could hold New Korea Party members together.
Mr Lee (62), is best known for quitting as Mr Kim's prime minister in 1994 to protest at curbs on his power. - (Reuter)
