BRITAIN: The parents of gravely-ill baby Charlotte Wyatt lost their bid yesterday to lift a court order allowing doctors to refuse their daughter life-saving treatment.
Darren Wyatt (32) and his wife Debbie (23) argue that their 15-month-old daughter has a real chance of survival and that Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust should do all it can to keep her alive.
Lawyers for the Wyatts also told the High Court judge that Charlotte's condition had improved. Justice Hedley said he would consider the medical evidence relating to her health improvements at another hearing before Easter. In the meantime, he said, the ruling - which he made last year - would remain as it was.
"This means that Charlotte could die before the court considers the new evidence and decides what the long-term position should be," a lawyer for the Wyatts said.
The judge said there was no evidence at present that Charlotte's improvements related to her underlying condition. - Reuters
