Judge lectures man on manners

A man accused of possessing two canisters of CS gas received a lecture on manners in Tallaght Court yesterday

A man accused of possessing two canisters of CS gas received a lecture on manners in Tallaght Court yesterday. When Judge James McDonnell was granting Joseph O’Reilly legal aid, he asked him what solicitor he wanted.

The defendant replied: “Breen”.

Judge McDonnell told him: “That’s Mr Breen to you. You would not like it if I referred to you as ‘O’Reilly’. I won’t tolerate officers of the court being referred to like that.”

Mr O’Reilly (24), Belfry Crescent, Tallaght, Dublin, is charged with two counts of possessing CS gas at his home on June 19th, 2009.
