A JUDGE has issued warrants for an alleged prison escaper, Thomas Clarke, to the Garda extradition section. Judge Cyril Kelly recalled Clarke's alleged escape related to an incident involving the Portlaoise prison van on the Naas dual carriage way in April.

Judge Kelly has already ordered that certified copies of court documents relating to Clarke be handed over to gardai who are seeking to extradite him from the Netherlands.

Clarke (27), of Keepers Road, Drimaagh, Dublin, has been in custody there since his arrest on June 4th.

In 1995 Clarke was sentenced by the Circuit Court to two concurrent five year terms for robbery and was sent to Portlaoise Prison, Mr Robert Sheehan said of the Chief State Solicitor's Office.
