Gardai at the Bridewell station in Dublin are appealing for witnesses to an accident yesterday in which a man died.
Mr Ken Ryan (48), of Swords Street, who was the motor sports correspondent with Independent Newspapers, was dead on arrival at the Mater Hospital after his car collided with railings in the Bridewell area of the city.
The accident happened at the junction of Swords Street and Moira Road at around 4.20 p.m. No other vehicle was involved.
Mr Ryan was the author of a number of books on motor sport. Before becoming a full time writer, he worked in the Fianna Fail press office and in the Government Information Service. His brother, Sean, is deputy sports editor of the Sunday Independent.
