One of the most celebrated figures in tomorrow's high profile concert by the Martin Speake International Quartet at the Temple Bar Music Centre is drummer Paul Motian. He is famous not only for his role in one of pianist Bill Evans's greatest and most innovative trios, but also for his open-minded approach to music. And the group is truly international; the leader and a founder of the award-winning group, Itchy Fingers, saxophonist Martin Speake (left), is British, as is bassist Mick Hutton, while the pianist is Bobo Stenson, one of the figures in Swedish jazz who is, incidentally, a fan of the late Bill Evans. Their concert, which begins at 8 p.m., is to be the closing highlight of The Improvised Music Company's OpenJazz 2000 in Temple Bar.
