Jakarta - The Indonesian government has put ousted former President Suharto (78) under house arrest. State prosecutors have questioned the former autocrat several times over al legations of corruption and abuse of power during his 32-year rule, and expect to bring charges against him by August. Last week, the government said it planned to move the frail Gen Suharto from his home in central Jakarta after it became the focus of repeated anti-Suharto protests which last week turned violent. He was forced from office two years ago as the country descended into economic and social mayhem.
