Cairo - A wealthy Egyptian businessman and four colleagues who conspired to sell 28 tonnes of stale chocolate cakes on the Egyptian and Lebanese markets were jailed for up to five years yesterday.

A Cairo state security court sentenced Ashraf al-Quweiri, owner of the Overseas Co. for Food Products, and his exports director to five years for bribing public officials and forging documents with a view to fobbing off cakes that had passed their sell-by date.
