A Palestinian boy was killed after being hit by an Israeli tear gas canister in the al-Fara refugee camp just south of the West Bank town of Jenin today.
It is reported that Muhamad Ahmad Mubarak, 12, who came from the camp, died after being hit by a tear gas canister fired by Israeli soldiers.
The boy also inhaled the canister’s fumes but it was not clear whether he had died from the gas or the force of the projectile.
Two Israeli tanks and a number of military vehicles had entered the camp in pursuit of stone throwers and began firing tear gas and live bullets, Palestinian sources said.
The Israeli army said it was checking the incident.
The al-Fara camp lies just south of the village of Tubas, and some 22 kilometers (13 miles) south of the northern West Bank town of Jenin.
