Israeli soldiers shot dead a 14-year-old Palestinian boy today during clashes at the Karni border crossing into Israel, the third Palestinian to be killed today.
The boy, whose identity had yet to be determined, was the second Palestinian youth shot dead in the Gaza Strip by Israeli soldiers in furious confrontations between stone-throwers and the army. Earlier today 18-year-old Mr Khalil Yusef Fayad was shot dead.
Mr Ribhi al-Bayed, a 50-year-old man was also killed by Israeli fire in the West Bank city of Hebron. But it was in the Gaza Strip that the fighting reached its fever pitch.
In running battles between young stone-throwers and Israeli soldiers, 112 Palestinians were injured.
The fighting had been quelled toward evening everywhere but at Karni, where 26 youths had been struck by Israeli bullets, three of whom were seriously injured, said medical sources.
The boys were all between the ages of 12 and 17, the sources added.
Deir El Balah was heaviest hit in the Gaza Strip. The southern hot spot listed 65 injured, including the death of Mr Khalil Yusef Fayad.
Another 16 were injured in northern Beit Hanun, while another five were wounded in southern Khan Yunis, hospital sources said.
Meanwhile, in the West Bank, 28 Palestinians were injured in the fighting, which marked the second day of the anniversary of the year-long intifada.
