Two Palestinians were killed early today during an Israeli army raid into the autonomous Palestinian West Bank town of Kalkilya, sources said.
One of the victims, Attes Abdel Alal (22), was identified as a member of Palestinian leader Mr Yasser Arafat's elite bodyguard Force 17. The second victim, Yussef el Ahra (22) was a civilian whose home was hit by a rocket, the sources said.
They said four Palestinians were also injured, one seriously.
The Israeli army has occupied the Dheishe refugee camp near Bethlehem in the West Bank, an Israeli military spokesman said.
The spokesman said the operation was aimed at arresting "terrorists" and seizing weapons, and that soldiers had discovered explosives in a building in the camp.
He also confirmed the army had earlier today occupied the autonomous Palestinian West Bank town of Kalkilya to "arrest terrorists and seize arms".
