Jerusalem - In what one Israeli politician is calling "the worst example to date of contempt for the Holocaust," a group of Israeli schoolchildren on an educational tour of Nazi death camps in Poland celebrated their final night abroad by ordering a male stripper (for the girls) and a female stripper (for the boys) to their Warsaw hotel rooms, David Horovitz reports.

Thousands of Israeli schoolchildren make trips each year to Holocaust sites in Poland, in programmes designed to bring home to them the appalling crimes perpetrated by the Nazis against the Jews in the second World War. "We learned a lot on the trip," said Ms Ofra Bachar, from a kibbutz in northern Israel, who was one of the 50 pupils on the latest visit. On the last night, she acknowledged, they'd ordered the strippers. "But that wasn't a big deal. That wasn't the point of the trip."

The headmistress of the school, Ofek, in western Galilee, said the incident was symptomatic of the collapse of ideology on Israel's kibbutzim, where most of the school's pupils live.
