Israeli helicopter gunships struck two Gaza City buildings the army described as arms factories today, but Palestinians said the targets were just civilian businesses.
One missile slammed into a motor parts store owned by the father of a Hamas suicide bomber who blew herself up at a crossing to Israel in January, killing four Israelis. Two other missiles destroyed a metal foundry.
There were no dead, but a six-year-old boy was cut by flying debris.
The Israeli army said in a statement that the targets "were part of the manufacture and supply network of weapons in the Gaza Strip", referring to militant groups waging an almost four-year-old Palestinian uprising.
Palestinian witnesses and security sources denied the charge.
Earlier today, an explosion in the Gaza home of a Hamas leader wounded him and killed five other Palestinians. The Islamic militant group accused Israel of an air strike. The army acknowledged trying to kill the militant.
