The Israeli army killed an 11-year-old Palestinian girl in the Gaza Strip overnight. She was shot as she opened her bedroom window in an area where soldiers and gunmen do battle daily.
The girl, whose name was Nada Madi, was killed by gunfire from an Israeli army outpost on the Egyptian border about a half a mile away. Her family say the shooting was unprovoked.
Israeli military sources claimed not to have information about a girl being shot but said an army patrol had exchanged fire with Palestinian gunmen in the area.
