ISLAMABAD - The Pakistani government released three leaders of a fundamentalist Islamist party yesterday as their plans to stage a million-strong protest sit in in Islamabad fizzled into the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) party said it would still launch a nationwide movement against Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's government. The arrests and releases after two hours followed the second day of skirmishes with militants in Islamabad and nearby Rawalpindi in which at least 50 people were injured.
