An Irishman has died in suspicious circumstances on the Spanish island of Lanzarote.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said it was aware of the man's death early this morning. He is believed to have been in his late teens.
"We are aware of the case of an Irishman dying in Lanzarote. We have been in contact with his family in Dublin."
He said the Irish embassy in Madrid and the Consulate in Lanzarote were providing assistance to the family.

It is believed the man got involved in a row over a traffic incident in the town of Puerto del Carmen led at about 5.30am before being attacked with an iron bar.
Spanish police are investigating and searching for two men, according to reports.
