Forty-four Irish Press staff were awarded between £750 and £1,050 in holiday pay arrears by the Employment Appeals Tribunal yesterday. The money had been due since the company closed in 1995 and is to be paid from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment insolvency fund.
Claims by a further six employees remain to be dealt with. The arrears arose because of the practice at the Irish Press group of not granting paid holiday leave until employees had worked at least a year with the company.
