An Irish man has been shot dead in a gangland-style attack in Spain’s Costa del Sol

An Irish man has been shot dead in a gangland-style attack in Spain’s Costa del Sol. Richard Keogh, aged 30, was gunned down in the resort of Benalmadena, near Torremolinos, at around 11.30pm last night.

It is understood he was outside a casino in the small resort town near Malaga when a gunman pulled up in a car and shot him up to 10 times.

Keogh was known to the gardaí and was suspected of being involved in drug trafficking.

Originally from Cabra, Keogh moved to Spain with his partner and four young children two years ago following an attempt on his life at his home in Co Louth.

Gardai said they will assist the police force in Spain with their investigation in to the gun attack.

"We will co-operate if requested to and will assist in whatever way we can," a spokeswoman said.
