An Irish man was among four people killed in a helicopter crash in northern India today.
The helicopter, which was on its way to the ski resort of Sathan, 225 miles north of New Delhi, crashed 15 minutes into its journey. All four aboard, including the Irish man, a Colombian woman, a local hotel receptionist, and the pilot, were killed.
A Department of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman said the Irish consulate in India was liasing with the dead man's family. She said the department would not be releasing any personal details at this stage.
The helicopter, owned by the Himalayan Heli Service Company, took off in clear weather from a hotel helipad near Manali, but lost contact with air-traffic control shortly afterwards.
