The Irish industrial sector slowed sharply in the third quarter of the year, according to the latest output data released today.
Figures from the Central Statistics Office show the seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production was down 6.3 per cent for the three-month period July to September 2002 when compared with the preceding three months.
Production increases of 20.9 per cent and 6.1 per cent were recorded for intermediate goods and consumer goods respectively.
There was a decline of 0.9 per cent in capital goods.
