The Irish Anti-War Movement is protesting outside the US embassy in Dublin this evening and will stage a rally in the city centre tomorrow in response to the re-election of Mr George W. Bush.
The group believes Mr Bush's second term of office will "escalate conflict" in the Middle East, and that his re-election is "bad news for the US and the world".
It also wants an end to US military use of Shannon airport in the war on Iraq and will speak on this and related issues at the pedestrian junction of Grafton Street and St Stephens Green between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. tomorrow.
The Irish Anti War Movement aims to rally support from all Irish people opposed to the war in Iraq and has stepped up its campaign in the wake of reports more than 100,000 Iraqi civilians have died since the US-led invasion.
Former UN weapons inspector Mr Scott Ritter said that Shannon has become "part of the US military conveyor-belt of death," the group stated.
Another protest is planned for Shannon airport on November 13th. .
Mr Bush's re-election has disappointed a number of Irish political parties and anti-war groups, and representatives held a press conference in Dublin to express their concerns.
