Former ‘Irish Times’ journalist appointed to law school

NUI Galway has appointed Child Care Law Reporting Project director Dr Carol Coulter as honorary adjunct professor at its school of law.

Dr Coulter, a former legal affairs editor of The Irish Times, will work with colleagues at NUIG on further research into best practices for child protection nationally and internationally, with a strong human rights focus.

NUIG, the Galway University Foundation, Tusla, Atlantic Philanthropies, the Free Legal Advices Centres and the Department of Children and Youth Affairs are involved in guiding the second phase of the Child Care Law Reporting Project .

This includes establishing a research group that aims to identify ways to implement recommendations from the project within two years.
