Ireland suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the host nation and number one seed Australia in their second match of the Men’s World Team Squash Championships in Melbourne today.

The Australian side, which includes the number one seed David Palmer, proved too strong for Ireland as all three matches were won in straight games.

The odds were stacked against Ireland as illustrated by the seedings. While Derek Ryan is Ireland’s highest seeded player (31), the lowest in the Australian team is John Williams (23).

In the top match Palmer defeated Ryan 9-7, 9-1, 9-1 before Stuart Boswell (11) got the better of Liam Kenny (57) 9-1, 9-3, 9-6.
